Eastwood takes the wheel

"Gran Torino" to rent from 14/07/09 at DVDPost

He is almost 80 years old, but Clint Eastwood is back with a huge box office success: in France "Gran Torino" drew 3,2 million film fans to the theatre, a close win with "Million Dollar Baby" that welcomed 3,15 million viewers.
Eastwood is Walt Kowlaski, a war veteran from Korea with some slight racist streaks. The resemblances with Dirty Harry are obvious, even though Kowlaski is a retired factory worker from the automobile industry. Now, he enjoys his quiet days with emptying beers, mowing his lawn and keeping his collection car in good state. But then, a young man from his neighbourhood, Hmong, tries to steal his most precious Ford Gran Torino, a mythical car that also starred in the TV-series "Starsky & Hutch".
With Gran Torino Clint Eastwood returns back to his roots, to the genre that made him an internationally acclaimed actor and film star.
